Our STEM Camp motto: "If YOU can see it, YOU can be it"
With the poverty rate at historic levels in the City of Lancaster, it is our goal to show the youth in our community that careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) will provide them with an income that can lead them out of poverty and into a sustainable wage and career. Our camp focuses on youth in middle school, so that when they attend high school, they have an idea of the course work required to be successful in their chosen field.
STEM Camp 2019, will consists of 2 two week sessions. The objective of the camp are as follows:
Campers will explore what STEM application exemplifies in the real world, and encounter several professionals of color, to learn about their preparation for their careers (i.e. chemists, engineers, finances, food science and biology) while learning what a typical day would be like in those STEM careers and participating in hands-on activities related to each career.
Campers will collaborate within several activities to develop their team player skills and identify why each stage of business is vital whether it be manufacturing, marketing, designing or constructing.
Campers will engage in exposure to prototyping, developing and modifying several tasks that can be directly related to real world needs.
