Ways to give

Cash:  Donors can make cash gifts in the form of a check made payable to Bright Side Opportunities Center.  Pledges may be made payable over a period of as many as five years.

Securities:  Donors may make gifts of securities by written endorsement on the stock certificate(s) or through wire transfer from the donor’s brokerage account to the Bright Side Opportunities Corporation brokerage account. Donors will be asked to inform the campaign staff of any gift of stock prior to the endorsement or wire transfer.

Real Estate or Personal Property: Gifts of real estate or personal property may be given to the campaign but they must be reviewed and accepted by the Bright Side Opportunities Corporation of Board of Directors.

Insurance Policies: Bright Side Opportunities Corporation must be both the beneficiary and owner of an insurance policy before the policy can be counted as a gift. The Corporation will determine the gift amount of an insurance vehicle at its cash surrender value, rather than at the face value. Paid-up and unencumbered the life insurance policies may be counted in one of two ways:

  • the cash surrender value, counted as a current out right gifts; or

  • the death benefit value counted at both the face value and the discounted present value.

Bequests and Other Planned Gifts:  Any bequests or planned gifts (especially charitable remainder unitrusts, lead trusts, and gift annuities) that are realized during the defined duration of the capital campaign will be included in the campaign totals. The Bright Side Opportunities Corporation may include, on a case-by-case basis, irrevocable bequest and planned gift intentions toward the campaign goal, but may choose to increase the overall campaign goal to ensure that adequate funds are secured to cover campaign project expenses as identified in the Case for Support.

Corporate or Firm Matching Gifts:  All matching gifts will follow the donor’s gift designation and will be included toward the donor’s gift commitment and recognition.
