What is Strong Choices, Bright Futures?
Strong Choices, Bright Futures (SCBF) is an innovative initiative designed to enhance the well-being of seniors aged 65 and above in Lancaster County. This program will operate across 6 dedicated senior centers in the county, aiming to encourage seniors to adopt an active lifestyle, thereby reducing the risk of sedentary lifestyle diseases. Additionally, SCBF seeks to foster a sense of community and cultivate new friendships among participants.
The SCBF program offers a culturally diverse and age-appropriate curriculum focused on fitness and nutrition education, including:
Twice-weekly 45-minute all-levels classes incorporating strength, conditioning, balance, flexibility, and cognitive skills.
Healthy cooking class led by Wellness Chef Judy Savage.
Nutrifreak nutrition education sessions conducted by Sally Winchell.
Quarterly social events organized by Kathy Kirk, Merriment Manager.
Various gifts and giveaways to enhance participant engagement and enjoyment.
