What is Strong Choices, Bright Futures?

Strong Choices, Bright Futures (SCBF) is an innovative initiative designed to enhance the well-being of seniors aged 65 and above in Lancaster County. This program will operate across 6 dedicated senior centers in the county, aiming to encourage seniors to adopt an active lifestyle, thereby reducing the risk of sedentary lifestyle diseases. Additionally, SCBF seeks to foster a sense of community and cultivate new friendships among participants.

The SCBF program offers a culturally diverse and age-appropriate curriculum focused on fitness and nutrition education, including:

  • Twice-weekly 45-minute all-levels classes incorporating strength, conditioning, balance, flexibility, and cognitive skills.

  • Healthy cooking class led by Wellness Chef Judy Savage.

  • Nutrifreak nutrition education sessions conducted by Sally Winchell.

  • Quarterly social events organized by Kathy Kirk, Merriment Manager.

  • Various gifts and giveaways to enhance participant engagement and enjoyment.
