Our programs uplift Lancaster’s middle school and high school scholars through minds-on-hands-on STEM education, leadership development, and social-emotional learning.

Open Gym Attendant - Open Gym

Position Description

  • Reports to: Program Director

  • Hours: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week

  • Starting Salary: $15 per hr

  • Employment Length: Ongoing Program

  • License/Certification: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Form, and FBI Criminal Background Check.

  • Must be 18+ years old with a high school diploma or GED, Must be 18+ years old; college coursework preferred.

Position Summary: Bright Side Opportunities Center is looking for a responsible, energetic, and youth-focused Open Gym Attendant to help supervise our after-school recreational basketball program for middle and high school students. As an Open Gym Attendant, your goal is to create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where students can engage in physical activity, build relationships, and have fun after school.

The Open Gym Attendant will monitor daily gym activities, promote good sportsmanship, ensure rules and safety protocols are followed, and serve as a role model to students. If you're passionate about youth development, teamwork, and creating welcoming community spaces, this is the job for you

STEM Camp Junior Counselor - bSOC STEM Camp

Position Description

  • Reports to: Assistant STEM Camp Director

  • Hours: Seasonal, up to 38 hrs per week

  • Starting Salary: Volunteer position or $9.50-13.50 per hr, based on experience

  • Employment Length: 6/9/25 – 8/1/25

  • License/Certification: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Form, and FBI Criminal Background Check.

Position Summary:

Being a JC is a great opportunity for high school students looking to earn volunteer hours and gain an introduction to youth development. As a STEM Camp Junior Counselor, your goal is to support day-to-day operations and help create a memorable and meaningful experience where campers can learn, play, and grow in a safe and caring environment. Junior Counselors should have excellent attention to detail and a willingness to lend a helping hand with setup, cleanup, meal prep, serving meals, assisting with program activities, and supporting special events. JCs are a vital part of keeping camp organized and are the backbone that helps ensure each day runs smoothly. The Classroom Assistant will help deliver workshops, support scholars with hands-on learning activities, lead sisterhood and icebreaker activities, and provide critical encouragement throughout the program.
